We are delighted to announce that CycleStreets has been awarded a Cambridge Sustainable City grant, of £3,200, to cover a range of improvements. Cambridge Sustainable City is an initiative of Cambridge City Council, who are one of a number of Local Authorities who are now linking to CycleStreets from their website transport pages. (We hope […]
Developer Day: Saturday 6th March
As previously posted, we’re going to have a Developer Day. The date has been set as 6th March, as that seemed to be the date that most people can do, and it gives us a little bit more time for preparation. We’re not sure we’ve got everyone’s e-mail who plans to come, so please do […]
Developer Day – sign up now!
We’ve now firmed up plans for our Developer Day, to be held in the coming month. We’ve had various kind expressions of interest from people wanting to get involved at a more technical level, either in terms of programming or the OpenStreetMap-related aspects, and we thought this would be a good way of helping that process […]
CycleStreets Developer Day coming soon
We’re planning to hold a Developer Day soon. We’ve had various kind expressions of interest from people wanting to get involved at a more technical level, either in terms of programming or the OpenStreetMap-related aspects, and we thought this would be a good way of helping that process along. View from the Street – in itinerary listings
We’ve now added a Street View facility to the itinerary listing pages. We think this will really help people to visualise the routes planned in many urban areas. Many thanks to George Coulouris, who wrote the main code to integrate this facility into CycleStreets. To use it, just go to an itinerary listing, e.g. Itinerary […]

GeoVation Awards Programme submission
We’ve submitted an entry for the GeoVation Awards Programme – view our venture. A similar idea to what CycleStreets has been implementing was submitted by someone else, at https://challenge.geovation.org.uk/ideas/57 – please do add a rating for that idea. (Requires login first, but it’s fairly easy.)
I can’t find my Postcode
It is very possible that you will not be able to find your own postcode using the CycleStreets search. This is due to the data source of postcodes that we are using, and you can contribute too. CycleStreets could use the Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File (PAF), however that is very expensive at over £5,000 […]
IE8 users: Add our ‘Accelerator’ for the photomap search
Internet Explorer 8 has a useful new feature called ‘Accelerators‘. We’ve created an Accelerator for the CycleStreets photomap search. It basically gives you a one-click search for photos for a given bit of text. To get our Accelerator for IE8, go to our Search page, click on the blue install button. Then confirm, ideally clicking on the […]
